Choose Your Thrill: What to Consider When Shopping for a Luxury or Exotic Automobile

    Last updated 7 months ago

The time has finally come to buy the dream car that will match your success. Whether you’ve been eyeing the new technology-packed Range Rover Evoque, a luxurious Jaguar, or something edgier like the new Lamborghini Aventador, you’ve got a big decision to make. Which car is right for you? Read ahead for some of the factors that should be impacting your decision.

    Driving Habits

How often do you plan to drive this car? If it will be your main vehicle, then comfort should play a major role in your decision. A car like the 2012 Jaguar XF or the stylish new Range Rover Evoque will offer unsurpassed luxury, ample performance, and distinguished design that will keep you comfortable in any environment.

If you only plan to drive this car for leisure, then comfort may take a back seat to performance. The Jaguar XFR and XKR both offer an exhilarating bridge between performance and luxury, but it won’t be until you get behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Aventador that you’ll learn what it means to drive a supercar.

    Cost of Ownership

While both luxury and exotic cars demand meticulous maintenance, the similarities stop there. Generally, luxury car maintenance will cost a fraction of the price of maintaining an exotic. Oil changes can run in the high hundreds or into the thousands, and larger services can shadow these costs. Service intervals will also be more frequent. Simply put, if you want to enjoy the unfettered potential of a true supercar, then you’ll have to pay for it, but the exhilaration of hitting 60 mph in under three seconds is guaranteed to justify the cost!

Legendary Lamborghinis Over Half a Century

    Last updated 6 months ago

For fifty years, Lamborghini has been at the forefront of the exotic car world, designing vehicles of superior automotive prowess that have become known as supercars. To commemorate the release of the new Aventador, we’ve compiled this list of Lamborghini’s most legendary cars:

    350GT

The 350GT debuted in 1964 and brought the world its first real taste of what Lamborghini had to offer. It was equipped with a V12 engine that produced 280 hp and propelled it to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds, making Lamborghini the newest contender in the exotic car market.

    Miura

In 1967, Lamborghini released the Miura and forever changed the world of exotic cars, beginning a trend of mid-engine, two-seater sports cars that resonates to this day. At its launch, the Miura was the fastest production road car in the world, boasting an eventual 385 hp and a top speed of over 170 mph. As the first vehicle ever called a “supercar,” the Miura cemented Lamborghini’s place in exotic car industry.

    Countach

With a 17-year production run, the wedge-shaped Lamborghini Countach was among the first cars to reach 200 mph. It also was the first production car to feature scissor doors, which would become a staple of Lamborghini design. After multiple updates, the Countach exited production in 1990, leaving the Diablo to take its place.

    Murciélago

As the first new Lamborghini built in over a decade, the 2001 Murciélago was the successor of the Diablo and became Lamborghini’s flagship car of the new millennium. Named for a famous fighting bull that survived 28 sword strokes, the Murciélago saw numerous revisions over the years, including the elusive Lamborghini Reventón—Lamborghini’s most expensive car to date. By the end of its production in 2010, the Murciélago made 661 hp, hit 60 mph in just over three seconds, and had sold 4,099 units.

Less than two years later, the Lamborghini Aventador now takes the helm of Lamborghini’s lineup. With 700 hp and a 0-60 of 2.9 seconds, this supercar is guaranteed to make even the most jaded exotic car enthusiast gasp.
